First Post

Well, this is my first ever blog post.

I can't believe that I could do just one thing today that could turn me into a superstar! Now, just to find that one thing...

Anyway, on a more serious note I've been doing a whole much  raft of marketing and social media coaching in order to turn my life long albatross / hobby / love / dream Sense Recordings (on online music label / 'content hub' - the training's kicking in already!) into a workable business.

Sense Recordings was started when I was 24 and at Bath Spa University studying Creative Music Technology. This was to 'follow my heart' after falling out of love with academia and wanting to pursue the love I had found for playing music to people and making them dance, something I had been doing pretty much every weekend at that point.
At that time a lot of the students were very much into Drum & Bass and making huge distorted bass sounds. I was more into creating weird sounds and zoning out while programming old synthesisers and basically just making my own music, my own way. Consequently I never really felt like I fitted in with anyone there apart from my longest and oldest friend Simon, who I was writing and performing live Techno gigs with in and around our home time. We still get the synths together every so often for a mash up and one day we'll do some more gigs as the party usually goes off without us having to work too hard when we do venture out. I think that's down to the experience of all those years raving and djing that means that when you are playing to a younger crowd you play sounds and styles (especially when you mix old and new tuns) that just have sensibilities deeply rooted in dance music that they just wouldn't have come up with. Or maybe I'm just an old raver that thinks he's seen and heard it all before...
Good news is that I'm still only 33, and while I was waiting for the music to take off I became the worlds greatest pencil salesman (not telling you anything about that here yet!) which has given me the cash to fund this venture.
Anyway, I'm not going to sell anything or promote much  here as I'd much rather have some kind of splurge of thoughts on this blog...
More soon..
